Like the second edition, this new third edition has benefited from the interactions and feedback we have had from participants on the training courses we run for teachers, advisors and trainers using Thinking Science materials. They are too numerous to name, but we are grateful for the practicality and imagination shown in their recommendations.
We also want to thank some people by name: Nellie Mbano for her PhD work which led to the development of Lessons 13 and 14; Chris Harrison School of Education, King’s College London, for the ideas behind the rewrite of Lesson 20; and Debbie McGregor and her training team, School of Education, Keele University, who gave us many useful recommendations. Also, special thanks to Bill Symonds, the technician for the School of Education, Keele University, for his detailed notes which informed the rewriting of the ‘Equipment required’ section, and Dr Peter Borrows for his health and safety recommendations.
