1 Introduction

What is in this edition?

There are thirty Thinking Science lessons for pupils aged between eleven and fourteen years. Each lesson is designed to take between 50 minutes and an hour, although the first time you teach them you may not complete them in a single lesson. Suggested timings for each activity within a lesson are given.

Schools use Thinking Science in both integrated science situations and where separate sciences are taught. Thinking Science is based on the materials developed between 1984 and 1987 by the Cognitive Acceleration through Science Education (CASE) project, ESRC grant no. C00232179.
