At-a-Glance Guide to using Let’s Think through science! 8 & 9
This Guide contains everything you need to work through the 20 activities with a class of
pupils in order to develop their thinking within the context of science. You may find it helpful to
follow the steps below.
1 First, familiarise yourself with the materials by reading Chapters 1 and 2, which describe the
approach taken.
2 Chapter 3 shows how this resource translates theory into practice.
3 Chapter 4 gives practical details on how to use the materials most effectively.
4 Choose the most appropriate groupings for your pupils using the guidelines on pages 8
and 9.
5Select your starting activity by using the guidelines on page 11.
6Read the preparation needed and the step-by-step instructions for that activity. These are
found in the activity outlines on pages 15-61.
7Photocopy the resources required for that activity using the Resource Section on pages
63-87
8 Gather together any other resources required as described under the heading Materials at the
start of each activity. Some of these may include resources that you have kept following a
previous activity.

Prepare any resources that are not supplied. Instructions about what is needed are found in
the activity outlines on pages 15-61.
10 Carry out the activity using the step-by-step instructions in the activity outlines on pages
15-61.
