Introduction
In this activity on graphs, children use multilink to compare sets of animals and use this to build simple bar graphs. They discuss how to develop bar graphs using different sets of information. As an extension, they find out that bar graphs have limitations in terms of the kinds of data they can represent and discuss how line graphs can help us to understand data.
Episode 1:
Children make multilink block graphs to compare farm animals and realise the need for a one-to-many system to represent large numbers of people.
Episode 2:
The children experiment with creating a one to many system to represent information on a graph using large numbers.
Episode 3:
The children try to represent two sets of data on one graph. The discuss the limitations of bar graphs for this purpose and the possibilities of line graphs.

Aims
• To understand the one-to-one and one-to-many relations that are present in bar graphs
• To see line graphs as the next stage in representing data and showing relations between two sets of data.
