Worksheet 2 How big is the error?

1. Paul bought a new bike for £129.95. The shop actually charged him £129.99.
Paul then bought a chocolate bar priced at 15p. The shop charged him 19p.

How big are these errors?

What is the same about them?

What is different?

2. Measure this line roughly, to the nearest centimetre only.

Now measure it as accurately as you can.

Measure your desk to the nearest centimetre.

And more accurately.

How big are the errors in these measurements?

How important are they?
