Lesson 20 Heads and tails

Worksheet 1 Heads or tails?

Did you get exactly 5 heads in any of your samples of 10 throws?

What was the largest number of heads in any sample of 10 throws?

The smallest?

How many heads did you get in all 50 throws?

Looking at the proportions

To compare the proportion of heads in different sized samples, we can use percentages:

10 out of 10 = 100% or 1 whole = 1.0  5 out of 10 = 50% or half of  = 0.5

5 out of 50 = 10% or one tenth = 0.1

Use this to mark the proportions of heads for each sample of 10 on the scale below.
